Arctic Online

April 21st, 2009

We have just launched our latest server, Arctic. Our techs are making the final preparations before we open the server up to new orders. Existing clients are always welcome at anytime to switch servers by opening up a help ticket.

Arctic’s name servers are NS3.OCEANICHOSTING.COM and NS4.OCEANICHOSTING.COM.

Our Windows services will be launched later this summer.

2 New Servers & New Windows Hosting

March 6th, 2009

We are happy to announce 2 new servers which are being setup and should be accepting new signups:

  • Arctic - Linux w/ CPanel & Fantastico
  • Pacific - Windows hosting (NEW!)

All new from Oceanic Hosting is Windows hosting. We’re now supporting users who wish to use dedicated Windows options such as Active Server Pages, ASP.NET, and FrontPage Extensions. Windows plans will be developed and released shortly after our tests.

Atlantic IP Address Change

February 26th, 2009

In a week, Atlantic will be getting new IP addresses. All IP changes will be done server side and you should not notice any sort of downtime. We are moving to a faster and better network so you should notice better results with page load times.

New TOS & Privacy Policy Coming Soon

February 24th, 2009

Here at Oceanic Hosting we are dedicated to our users and after the Facebook Terms of Service fiasco, we want to make sure that our users can read, understand, and comprehend. We understand that you might not understand our currently written documents as they are intended to be. We want to easily tell you your rights, our rights, and all the in-between legal stuff (all in easy to understand English, of course).

We’re also giving our TOS a complete re-write. We’ve noticed there is information in there that doesn’t apply to hosting accounts anymore or the terminology has changed or the technology completely removed. These sections will be updated and changed accordingly.

We’re also going to be taking a look into our Privacy Policy as well and perhaps changing some of the terminology used in it as well. Once these new documents go live, we will be notifying all members on the website, blog, and we’ll be sending out a mass email.

You can view the current policies anytime here: http://www.oceanichosting.com/legal/

libcurl Work

February 18th, 2009

Today we recompiled Apache with libcurl enabled to handle HTTPS requests on Atlantic. libcurl (cURL) was enabled but did not have SSL support enabled. Now we will have this support in the future.

Welcome to The Oceanic Beacon!

February 12th, 2009

The Oceanic Beacon is Oceanic Hosting’s new blog! In the past, we’ve tried sending out newsletters but we’ve quickly realized as our client base grows, we were pushing more and more email through our servers. This time around, we’re trying a new approach - a blog!

We’re hoping to accomplish so much with this blog:

  • Notifying customers of service upgrades
  • Notifying customers about service outages
  • Bringing tips on how to manage your site
  • Fun things we find on the web
  • And more!

We welcome you to The Oceanic Beacon and we look forward to serving you!
